Zhukov Dance Theatre
is an exciting new contemporary dance company based in San Francisco.
It was founded in 2007 by Yuri
Zhukov, Millicent Powers
and Sandy Lee.

ZDT’s 2008 world premiere,
Product 01, presented two works by
Yuri Zhukov -- M&W and Passing --
which he created in collaboration
with the dancers of the company.

The San Francisco Chronicle raved
“In a single evening, Zhukov Dance
Theatre established itself as one of the
most promising presences on the
Bay Area dance scene.”

ZDT returned to the Yerba Buena
Center’s Novellus Theatre for
Product 02, in August of 2009.
For this performance Mr. Zhukov
created another world premiere --
Pioneer Plaques -- and he
also invited Hlin Diego, a dancer
and a collaborator from the first
season, to create a new work
on the company called
Caught in the Square.

Renee Rounouff from Ballet.co
reviewed Product 02: “In the
magical way choreographers can
coalesce divergent qualities,
Zhukov created affinity and contrast
with (dancer) Sergio Junior
Benvindo de Souza, particularly in
a scene where de Souza was
repeatedly knocked around in one
of the most realistic, callous gang
scenes ever callibrated. I’d kill to
be in a brief Zhukov season.
I can’t wait until Product 03, and,
hopefully, a second or third viewing
of Pioneer Plaques.”

The company is currently planning
it’s third season, Product 03,which
will be presented at the Cowell
Theater in Fort Mason Sept 16,
17 and 18, 2010.
